We just returned from the annual week long Odom retreat on Lake Livingston in Point Blank, Texas. Although I have only been apart of this vacation for three years, I learned the ropes quickly.....eat, talk, play, ski and nap. Not a bad way to spend a holiday weekend!
So on Friday, July 2nd, we packed up the truck and headed south to the Lone Star state.....
I would like to take a second explain a particular relationship so you the reader can get the full appreciation of our 8 hour drive! As most of you know, Jacob and Cody have been roommates for the past six years. They did all the imaginable man and dog activities. They sat on the furniture together, slept together, ate together, rode in the car together......and the list goes on. To say the least, Cody was ALWAYS one step behind Jacob no matter where he went.
Well seven short months ago, this relationship began to "evolve". I mean Cody's obsession with Jacob was unhealthy. He needed other activities and friends.........Cody (and Jacob) have been very excepting to all these family changes except for one. Cody refuses to get out of my seat when we are riding in the car together! I mean, I don't mind sharing a seat on short rides....but NOT an 8 hour pilgrimage!
Cody is smart though! I have been monitoring his technique for a few months now and fortunately was able to documented his craftiness for all to see.
1.) He showers Jacob with love from his newly assigned seat. He makes sure to do this so I can see.
2.) On the opposite side (away from me), he begins to slowly creep forward.....
3.) Still creeping.....please take note that the left paw has successfully made it to the front seat....
4.) Mission completed!
Nine hours, five outlet mall stores, two bathroom breaks and one gas fill-up later, we were there!
The next seven days consisted of a lot of.....
diving,.....
skiing,....
tubing,....
jumping,....
swimming,....
rescuing,....
corn hole tournaments,....
fishing,....
smiling,....
and of course, celebrating our great nation!
(border patrol)
(here we come...)
(the Odom parade groupies)
Another great year in Texas with the Odom clan!
I am so blessed to have married into such a wonderful family!
